Blessed is the one who…delights is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. (Psalm 1:1)
The Bible. God’s Word. His revelation that He has left for us. It is God inspired. It is powerful and transformative. And it can also be intimidating. How do I read God’s Word and get the most out of it? Are there some translations better than others? Is there anything that can be done that can ease the intimidation?
This semester, we are going to instruct and encourage the reading and engaging of God’s Word. We will give a basic and foundational approach to help us read the Bible for all its worth. Join us!
If someone who'd never read the Bible asked you, "Who or what is God?", what would you say? More importantly, is how you answer that question perfectly in line with how the Bible answers that question? What if the question was about biblical topics such as heaven, angels, demons, hell, the Holy Spirit, the Trinity (a term not once mentioned in the Bible), Jesus, the Cross, or Christ's second coming?
Borrowing the title of one of C.S. Lewis' most popular works, "Mere Christianity," we're taking a deep-dive into what the Bible says - and doesn't say - about the basics of the Christian faith so that when someone asks, "What does the Bible say about....?", you will be able to confidently reply, "Glad you asked. Let me show you."
In short, "Mere Christianity" means "clarity in the basics." Join me, Nick
It's hard to know a God we don't understand, and it's hard to love a God we don't know. But our God wants to be known and loved, and He’s told us a lot about Himself in the pages of His Word.
